We will listen to your needs and guide you through every step of the building process, from design concepts, planning to managing builders and picking materials. We work hard to provide our clients high quality building designs and customer service, on time & within budget.

Our Team

Lucas Ryle

Director

The founder and lead building designer of this team. Lucas graduated from RMIT in 2005 with a diploma in Building Design and became a registered Building Designer in 2015. Knowledge and experience expanding from a wide variety of projects and a number of years in the industry working with clients has enabled Lucas to build great personal connections and through design transform spaces and enrich lives. When not designing Lucas is chasing around two beautiful children and hitting the ski slopes in winter and lakes in summer to help keep a solid work life balance.

Richard Latimer

Senior Draftsperson

An integral part of the Design 21 team, Richard graduated with an Advanced Diploma of Building Design from RMIT in 2017 and has worked for us ever since. Working on residential and commercial projects since starting at Design 21 Architecture has equipped Richard with knowledge throughout every stage of a project. Whether working on a new build or renovation, Richard’s goal is to make sure that every plan is a step closer to transforming an idea into a physical space. Outside of the workspace Richard has a passion for French cinema, tennis and painting.

Matthew Maselli

Junior Draftsperson

A fundamental part of the Design 21 team, Matthew completed his Advanced Diploma of Building Design from Holmesglen TAFE in 2020. Originally completing his Certificate III in Mechanical Engineering Matthew decided to change careers and follow his passion of Building Design which led to the Design 21 team. Matthews shows attention to detail, precise and functional drawings with a creative vision to help navigate through all stages of a project. Outside of Building Design Matthew enjoys Soccer, Golf and cooking

Our History

After working diligently for a small Architectural firm for just under a decade, Lucas branched out and engaged in some freelance drafting before undertaking the necessary registration process and began his own practice in the mid 2010s.

After some time of experiencing a vast range of projects – from residential alterations and additions to commercial scale and repair/reinstatement works – Lucas has managed to take on a series of outstanding jobs that have both inspired and required him to hire and train numerous building design graduates, some of which have gone on to work for other fantastic Architecture Firms.

This collected knowledge of both Lucas and his staff has transformed the small operation into a fully fledged building design firm.
